THE JAZZ IN M.E.E. goes to SPAIN!
THE JAZZ IN M.E.E. Magazine partnered with Mallorca Smooth Jazz Festival to bring jazz enthusiasts to the only smooth jazz festival in the European Mediterranean. We enjoyed the finer things in life, phenomenal music, exquisite food, luscious wine, amazing entertainment, perfect weather, and a unique experience in the breathtaking scenery of the Mediterranean Sea. The festival was held at the Protur Biomar Gran Hotel & Spa. This 5-star hotel is located only 300 meters from the beach and is characterized by an elegant, modern and fully-equipped spa, as well as dreamy landscaped gardens and cozy swimming pools.
This experience was remarkable and for M.E.E to witness jazz being held in such high regard was phenomenal. We are advocates for jazz and to see it in the spotlight and supported like it’s rock-n-roll counterpart was exceptional. Jazz has become immensely popular in Europe, South Africa, and Japan, just to name a few places. This national treasure has been adopted and embraced overseas and is now international. This was a fun filled intimate musical weekend, where you could spend some up close and personal time with the artists and their music. Check out the schedule of events that were offered:

THE JAZZ IN M.E.E Meets: Will Downing & Gerald Albright
THE JAZZ IN M.E.E. had the pleasure of spending the afternoon interviewing and the evening being thoroughly entertained by the powerful saxy sounds of Gerald Albright and the smooth romantic baritone vocals of Will Downing. Avery Sunshine opened the show with her fun, interactive and playful vocals and lyrics coined ‘jazzgosoul’. What a special way to celebrate Mothers day and also raise money for a great cause (1530 Seward Foundation). Donna Franklin hosted this Serious Sounds sponsored event.
Women love Will Downing and men love the women who love Will Downing. In his two-decade recording career, the Brooklyn native has carved for himself a solid career. Will Downing has established himself as one of the most consistent, soulful singers of his era and arguably, with the unfortunate death of Luther Vandross, as today’s leading provider of romantic, soulful music. Downing is known in the contemporary jazz and R&B music genres for his rich baritone vocals, and his interpretations of R&B and pop classics that stretch back to the early 1980s. He was on fire last night and we loved it in Houston.
The crowd could not get enough of Gerald last night. He took us on his a trip with his medley of songs that covered the musical spectrum, jazz, blues and R&B. Albright had sold over 1,000,000 albums in the U.S. alone. His self-produced music features him on bass guitar, keyboards, flutes, drum programming, and background vocals. Gerald has definitely earned the reputation as the “musician’s musician. With 15 CDs under his belt and one collaboration CD, Albright has definitely gained his place in the music world as a player, songwriter and producer.
Please stay tuned for a recap of the interview that M.E.E had with Gerald in a future magazine issue. He reveals some amazing details about upcoming projects, his approach to music today and how he gives back…
